Ian McConnell is an Alpena native who has been experimenting with music for 25 years.  He plays most instruments and uses them to compose original music and perform traditional pieces in new and innovative ways. He specializes in stringed instruments, but also has a strong interest in flutes from around the world. Guitar, dobro, lapsteel, banjo, mandolin and piano are his primary instruments for vocal accompaniment. Ian can also be found playing support instruments for local singer songwriters such as electric saxophone, viola, harmonica and various flutes. This year’s focus is on plectrum style banjo, so expect to see something a little different, but familiar enough for the music lovers.
