Whether you’re a seasoned chess player, a casual kitchen-table competitor, or someone who mostly remembers how the horsey one moves… you’re invited. 😏
We’re hosting our first Chess Tournament at the taproom, and we’re keeping it competitive, casual, and fun. Only 16 spots are available, so preregistration is required by Thursday, August 20th at 10pm.
♟️ Limited to 16 players
💲 $12 per person — includes your first drink!
🏆 Taproom gift cards + eternal glory on the PIF Chess Trophy
🙌 Beginners absolutely welcome!
HOW IT WORKS:
We’ll play a 4-round Swiss-style tournament, which means nobody gets eliminated! Win or lose, you’ll play all four rounds.
⏱️ Each player gets 10 minutes on the clock, so games last a maximum of about 20 minutes.
🎲 Round 1: Players are randomly paired.
♟️ Rounds 2–4: You’ll be matched against players with similar scores.
🏅 Scoring:
Win = 1 point
Draw = ½ point
Loss = 0 points
The whole tournament should run about 2–2½ hours, including breaks for refills, strategizing, and quietly questioning every decision you’ve made since moving that pawn.
And then there’s THE TROPHY. 🏆
The tournament champion gets their name on the PIF Chess Trophy, which will remain proudly displayed at the taproom — waiting for the next challenger to come take the title.
Come drink cider. Move tiny wooden armies around. Destroy your friends intellectually.
♟️ Your move. 🍎

🍎✨ A little something rare is arriving Friday, May 8… and we’re making a night of it. And the majestic Gary of Vinyl Night will be spinning his jazz collection this evening!
Join us for our Pommeau Release Party and be among the first to taste three new pours that blur the line between cider, spirits, and pure indulgence:
🥃 Vieux Doux — traditional French-style pommeau aged on oak with notes of caramel, toffee, rich apple, and oak.
🍊 Pomfashioned — our pommeau nod to an Old Fashioned, steeped with herbs and spice, served over ice with orange rind.
🍒 Pomhattan — a Manhattan-inspired pommeau with cherry, bitters, spice, and all the moody elegance you’d hope for.
Each pour served in its own proper glassware, each with its own personality.
Slow sipping. Cozy vibes. A little French orchard meets cocktail lounge energy in the taproom.
Come taste what we’ve been aging toward. This release is something special. 🍏

Dearest Gentle Readers… 💌
After a most scandalous reshuffling of the social calendar, Bridgerton Trivia Night shall now grace us on May 6th at 6:30 PM.
Do try to recover.
And rumor has it… there may be canapés.
(We make no promises—only whispers and temptation.)
Now, a matter of grave importance:
If the ton continues to express interest without the decency of an actual RSVP… these soirées may cease to exist entirely. 💅
Yes. Gone. Like a poorly matched suitor.
So if you wish to sip cider, flaunt your superior knowledge of Lady Whistledown’s finest scandals, and perhaps nibble a canapé or two—you must RSVP.
✨ Gather your most cunning companions
✨ Dress for drama (optional, but encouraged)
✨ RSVP like your social standing depends on it
Because, frankly… it does.
Yours in cider and quiet desperation,
PIF Cider 🍎🍾
